A Journey of Art, Love, and Remembrance
Hi, Iām Precious, a self taught painter.
I was born in a small, war torn country in West Africa, where survival came before hobbies or creative pursuits. When I was eight, my family moved to the United States. Art was something I loved, but I never imagined it as something I could truly pursue.
Years later, I began painting again with very little confidence, unsure if my work would ever matter beyond myself. My brother was the first person to believe in me. His encouragement meant more than he knew, and after he passed away from leukemia, I carried his support with me. My husband has also been a steady source of encouragement, reminding me to keep creating even when doubt creeps in.
I draw inspiration from the world around me, trees, the ocean, open landscapes, and moments of stillness. My work often reflects emerald seas, earthy tones, and soft, muted hues that bring me peace and remind me of the quiet beauty of life. Traveling has also shaped my creative eye, allowing me to observe light, nature, and fleeting moments through photography that later find their way into my paintings.
Today, I paint for my husband, for my brother, and for my inner child. Art, for me, is not about perfection. It is about noticing beauty, holding onto it, and sharing it with others.
